Fathers Matter Group
Spring 2026 Cohort
Six Thursdays, 7:30–9:00pm (Dates confirmed once group is full)
Children do not simply experience their fathers — they build them inside themselves.
Fathers Matter is a six-week online reflective group for men who want to think more deeply about their role in their children’s emotional development.
Informed by psychoanalytic theory and clinical work with children and families, the group explores why fathers are psychologically important from infancy through adolescence — not only in what they do, but in how they are taken in, imagined, and carried forward by their children.
Each session begins with a focused introduction to a key developmental idea — such as internalisation, triangulation, and the internal parental couple — followed by structured discussion.
This is not a parenting skills course and not an advice-giving forum. It is a professionally led group for fathers who want to think clearly and seriously about their place in their child’s inner world.
The group is relevant to fathers of infants, latency-age children, and adolescents.
Maximum 8 participants.
Fee: £180 for six sessions (payable in advance to secure a place)
